Looks like to download the Prog12Z software you have to log into the PEMicro website go to “my account”, then “my downloads” and download the software. As long as you have an active hardware license you can download the software onto as many devices as you want (you don’t need an available hardware license just an active one). There is no option for different software revisions so I assume it is always the latest release. I could not find a link to download the software without logging in. The software is not licensed but the hardware is.
Is this accurate?
We utilize Prog12Z programming all over and I want to make sure I fully understand the licensing. As I understand it, we should buy licensed multilink programmers so that they can be used anywhere without licensing each workstation and we can download the Prog12Z software on as many devices as needed.
Hi Shawn,
Thank you for posting. Our license model (as of the past year or so) is hardware based. The license is insalled onto a single Multilink (or Cyclone, in the case of debugger software). That Multilink/Cyclone hardware interface will then work with the version of the software that you purchased on any PC where you install the software. In order to facilitate this, the appropriate version of the software is made available to download through your pemicro.com account, as you mentioned. Updates to this software are also free of charge for one year. The licensed Multilink/Cyclone interface can also be shared by multiple users, at different times (the older license model was single-user). We recommend that you take care to label the Multilink/Cyclone so that it is clear which license(s) have been installed onto it. Otherwise you may need to physically check using the License Manager Utility.
As an added clarification to wwat's written above, for anyone who might read this later - those users purchasing PROG flash programming software would only license a Multilink, not a Cyclone, because the Cyclone already contains programming software for all the device families that it supports.
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns, thanks.
Thanks,
Keith
