Trouble connecting to Multilink in CodeWarrior

Hello,
I recently purchased a Multilink Universal Rev. E. I am trying to use it along with CodeWarrior v11.1 to debug and run code on a device using an HCS08 microcontroller. I downloaded the Multilink_Resource folder and used PEFirmwareConfig.exe to upgrade the Multilink firmware to v11.52.
I think I did something incorrectly because I still see:

Interface hardware detected with old firmware. updating... (please wait)
Original firmware: (empty)

Update firmware: 10.07
rebooting
then:
Firmware update failed.
Original firmware: (empty)

Update firmware: 10.07
Error during blank check

I do not know why I am still seeing this error after completing the firmware upgrade on my Multilink.

Greetings,

Please see FAQ #211 to see if updating the files inside your CW11.x fixes your problem:

I have followed the step to apply the patch. This seems to have resolved the issue of the blank check error. However, I am now getting the "Device is secure. Erase to unsecure" pop-up in CodeWarrior. I saw this error before when I was trying to use a much older debugger that I realized was unsupported with v11.x CW, but I am surprised I am seeing again while using the Multilink Universal

Greetings,

Do you know if the device is secured? It could also just be an indication that communication is unstable and the debugger thinks the device is unresponsive because it is secured. Make sure your connection is good. You may want to use an oscilloscope to confirm this.
