Does frequent erasing and burning of files by Cyclone LC burner affect its service life?

Cyclone LC burner is used in production, about 200 times a day to erase, will remain in this state for a long time. Will this affect the service life of the Cyclone LC burner itself? What is the normal service life of Cyclone LC burner? Thank you!

WenWen,

Thank you for reaching out.

Can you clarify what you are doing? Are you changing the SAP image inside the Cyclone 200 times a day? Or do you have one static image and you program 200 boards a day with that image?

Hi WenWen,

You shouldn't have to change the image that many times. If you have dynamic data that you need to program (like serial numbers and manufacturer IDs), you can use our overlay data mechanism. Then your SAP image can just have the static data. The overlay data does need to be sent from a host PC that the Cyclone is connected to.

Erasing and reprogramming images hundreds of times a day will reduce the life of the eMMC flash in the Cyclone and cause earlier failure.
