MultiLink USB not able to connect/communicate with MC9S08SH8.

  • Setup: CW 6.3 converted to run on Win10. Debug tool: USB-ML-Universal. Targets: MC9S08AC128, MC9S08AW60, MC9S08SH8.
Am able to connect, download and debug to AC128 and AW60 successfully.
However, attempts to d/l to SH8 fail every time. Process: Connect ML to target then USB, power target, using CW attempt d/l, debug screen opens and apparently loads Startup then fails. PE debugger pops control page with message saying the ML has either lost or cannot communicate with the target, dismiss that page and the reset pulse screen pops up, power down the target, measure Vdd to make certain it drops below 0.1VDC, re-power, acknowledge reset screen, debugger re-starts d/l process. Cycle can be repeated ad nauseam with no positive result.

Hints: (1)the target was successfully programmed once before using the same process: drop/reset power and go forward.
    (2) Nothing has changed in the dev. set-up other than the usual MS updates.
    (3) Reset line has nothing hanging on it. No pullup or bypass cap.
    (4) Running external crystal, 4.9152MHz.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions/solutions.

  • Greetings,

Did you make sure to patch up your CW?

  • Found CW using incorrect SH8 configuration. Now running okay.
