MultiLink Universal and 3V Target System

  • Can the MultiLink Universal be used with a 3V Target System? Since VCC is supplied on pin 6 of the BDM connector (6-pin version for HCS08) the interface should be able to use this to adjust logic levels accordingly.

  • Greetings,

Correct. As long as the VDD/VCC on the chip and what is on pin 6 of the BDM header matches, then all of the logic will work out. This is the reason why Pin 6 connection is mandatory so that the internal buffers in our hardware interfaces can determine the reference voltage. Otherwise it would have difficulty understanding whether 3V is high or floating (in a case where the target uses 5V).
