Cannot connect to MPC561 with Multilink FX and PPC Nexus Development Kit Starter

  • I have tried to connect to an MPC561 part using the ICDPPC from the PPC Nexus Development Starter Kit with a Multilink FX. I currently have the BDM signals connected via header H of the Multilink FX. Using a logic analyzer, I have determined that the debugger does not assert the DSCK pin high on rising edge of the SRESET signal to enable BDM mode. Does this mean that the starter kit really only supports the full NEXUS interface? What would I need to purchase to have this support if that is the case? Thank you.

  • Greetings,

You are confusing the two types of PowerPC types: PowerPC BDM (MPC5xx/8xx) and PowerPC NEXUS (MPC55xx/56xx/57xx).

The PPCNEXUS starter kit will not support the MPC561 device. You will need to get PowerPC BDM version of the software.

For flash programming that would be PROGPPCZ:

For debugging that would be ICDPPCZ:

We do not have a starter demo version of these software, and we do not allow trial versions.

  • Greetings,

Did you get the correct software to work with your setup? Any questions?
