calculating CRC for use with VV command

  • We plan to use Cyclone Pro to program micros (S12XEQ384) for production.

We would like to use the VV command to check the CRC of the code programmed to a CRC we calculate from the S19 file created by our build process. We need more detail for how to calculate this value.

The documantion says "instruct the device to calculate a 16 bit CRC value from the contents of the entire FLASH of the device, which includes blank regions".

So this is a CRC of all flash ROM from 0x780000 through 0x79FFFF and 0x7C0000 through 0x7FFFFF (the '384 micro has a hole in its flash ROM address space).

What is the specifc CRC formula used? There are many to choose from.

For proof of concept, we used the SC command to get the CRC value to use for testing use of the Cyclone Pro. but we want to avoid requiring using a target micro so we can better automate the process.

Also, is it possible to fully automate generation of the image to be loaded into the Cyclone Pro?
