Where can I find information on debugging?

  • I just purchased a PE Micro USB Multilink Interface to use with a HCS08 microcontroller. I am writting code in C using Cosmic's compiler. Is there a way to view the associated C source code while I am stepping through the assembly? I can't find any documentation on load, loadmap, etc. Where is the documentation for this product and how do you load the debug info? When I try to use the loadmap command it says the file is the wrong format?

  • Hi Chuck,

The compiler generates a debug file which is used by the debugger to display source information to the user. The ELF file format is the most common that I've seen from the different compilers out there. This file (which has a .elf file extension) should be used in conjunction with the "hloadmap" command in the debugger. Once loaded successfully, you should be able to debug your source code.

    Best regards,
