Can we replace Cyclone FX universal with Cyclone LC Universal

  • There is a question in TE group that if we can replace a Cyclone FX Universal with a Cyclone LC Universal, to program a NXP chip.
    Can we use the same SAP image, stored in the disk/PC/controller ?
    If we have a setup of 8 of FX, and need to replace only 1 of them, by a LC, is there any problem regarding connectivity, speed, etc. ?
    Thank you

    • Greetings,

      Thank you for your interests in our Cyclone series products!

      Cyclone FX has embedded a lot of features that LC does not. A few of them that may be of interest here are:

      1. Cyclone LC requires LIC-CYC-SD to support SD cards;
      2. Cyclone LC requires LIC-CYC-CTRL-ADV to support more than one Cyclone units;
      3. Depending on the target architecture, Cyclone FX may operate much faster than Cyclone LC (e.g. for SWD communication, Cyclone FX may communicate with target with up to 75MHz).

      If none of these features matters to you, then Cyclone FX and Cyclone LC can be mixed for your production setup.

      Best Regards
      Huajun
