Product Information
P&E's PPC Interface Cable provides access via the BDM interface on a Freescale Power Architecture microcontroller. It is the hardware interface between a standard IBM PC parallel port (DB25 female connector) and a standard 10-pin connector - the background mode header on a PowerPC target system. By using the Power Architecture BDM Interface, the user can take advantage of the BDM interface to halt normal processor execution and use a PC to control the on-chip resources. The user can then directly control the target's execution, read/write registers, memory values and program internal or external FLASH memory devices. The pinouts of the BDM connector are specified by P&E. The hardware interface is housed in a small protective plastic shell. It may be opened by merely pulling the two halves of the cable cover assembly.
The CABLEPPC derives it's power from the target and has an operating voltage of 3.0v-3.6v. For devices running below 3v (or anywhere 1.8v-5.25v), the USB-ML-PPCBDM interface cable should be used instead.

P&E Hardware Interface Drivers Version 9 (Windows 98/ME)
(26927 KB)
Installs P&E drivers to allow P&E applications to communicate with P&E hardware via the parallel port, PCI bus, Ethernet, Serial, and USB. This does not include the application level support which comes with the different products. This install will also work for Windows 2000/XP, but for these operating systems you should download v10 instead. |

ADDLPT - Specify/Use a PCI Parallel Port
(246 KB)
This utility allows P&E parallel port interface cables to make use of parallel ports which are specified by the user according to their address. This allows virtual or PCI based parallel ports which are not registered in the BIOS to be used. These settings
are remembered in the registry and are shared by different P&E applications. |
