New Products - USB Multilinks
 POWERPC® MPC55xx AND 68HC16/683xx USB DEBUG CABLES
P&E
Microcomputer Systems has just launched two new USB 2.0 Multilink
interfaces for Freescale processors - one for 68HC16/683xx devices, and
one for PowerPC® MPC55xx devices. P&E's USB Multilink cables are
PC-to-target hardware interfaces that allow software, such as
in-circuit debuggers and programmers, to communicate, debug, and
program the target processor via the on-chip debug module. With
appropriate P&E software, the user can directly control the
target's execution, read/write registers and memory values, debug code
on the processor, and program internal or external FLASH memory devices.

New Products - 68HC908 Development Kits
P&E Microcomputer continues to expand its series of HC08 USB
development kits. These complete low-cost 68HC08 development packages
provide all the tools needed to develop and debug many of the most
popular HC08 devices. P&E's new kits feature one of the following
Freescale 68HC908 processors:

Each kit contains:
- Development software which allows the user to assemble, program, simulate, and in-circuit debug code.
- USB-ML-MON08 Multilink interface and drivers for simple USB to MON08 connectivity. Connect to the evaluation board or your own hardware.
- HC08 microprocessor evaluation board with schematics to quickly begin embedded design.

Expert's Corner
BUILD SIMPLE AND EFFECTIVE TEST UNITS WITH P&E TOOLS
The
process of testing products is often complex and expensive, and can
require significant equipment and resources. However, the proliferation
of embedded processors with on-chip debug capability has made a
processor-centric test a simple and effective way to test your product.
In this edition of the Expert's Corner, Kevin Perreault, Vice-President
of Engineering, gives an introduction to the topic, followed by an
example of how to use P&E's flexible tools to quickly build a
simple and cost-effective application for program, test, and
calibration.
