Old Multilinks work but new one doesn't - Both are sw ver 9.81

  • Hi,

We have been using the Multilink Universal rev D. to program and debug an S12SX64 based prototype. We are using Codewarrior 5.9.0. We just ordered and received 3 new Multilink Universals same rev and same firmware version 9.81. None of the new Multilinks will work. During a programming attempt the Multilink is detected but it can't make contact with the MCU. I have passed them to other coworkers but they can't get them to work either. I have downloaded the updates called for in the FAQs but nothing has changed. Do I really have 3 duds or is there something else I can try?

    Thanks,

    Steve M.

  • Greetings,

Most likely you have not downloaded the resource CD for your multilinks and changed the firmware on them to the correct architecture:

This is not an optional step. You have to download the latest resource CD everytime you buy a multilink because the base firmware may not be the one you want, and who knows how long the multilink has been sitting in stock.

Once you force update the firmware using the firmware config utility, then you may have better results. Note, that you should also read my FAQ on this:

  • Greetings,

Could I get an update on this? Were you able to get the multilink working?
