Unable to open selected port Multilink with IAR Workbench for coldfire

  • Hello!

I have a new laptop with Windows 10 Enterprise, and I try to debug my coldfire via the IAR Embedded Workbench IDE for coldfire with the Multilink debugger.

I installed all the recent drivers and read the FAQ229. My Multilink is detected, but as soon as I start the "download and debug", IAR tells me:

P&E Interface: Unable to open selected port.
    Check power supply and cables.

The blue LED at multilink is on. The device manager also tells me the device is there (I see pemicrowindrvr and USB Multilink 2.0).

The same setup on a Windows 7 PC is working perfectly.

Also I tried to detect the multilink with the firmware updater. There (Version 10.17.0.0) the device is not "undetected", no matter what I do.

What can I do to get the multilink working?

    Thank you and stay healty

    • I talked with the supporter from PE Micro and a replacing of a .dll file helped in this case.

I downloaded the "Patch for CFV1/S08/RS08/MON08 3rd Party Software" from this side: http://www.pemicro.com/faqs/faq_view.cfm?id=211

And copied the unit_cfz_v1.dll in my IAR/cf/bin directory.

      This was the solution

      Thank you for your help.

  • Hi Simone,

You need to update the PEmicro run control file to the very latest. Please email me at zahar at pemicro dot com and I will share it with you.

    Best Regards,

  • This issue was resolved with update to the latest run control .dll version.
