Debugging SPC582B60E1 with Multilink Fx

  • Hello,

    I recently purchased an SPC582B-DIS V1.1 eval board from STM and am trying to get it setup with my Multilink Fx Rev C. Unfortunately when trying to connect through ICDPPCNEXUS I get a "Target device may have entered reset escalation" error. Any input on what might be causing this error would be greatly appreciated.

    Software is ICDPPCNEXUS 7.59
    Firmware is usbmlfxufjtagens.1018
    Micro is an SPC582B60E1

    Try lowering the debug shift frequency and adding 200ms delay after reset.

    I tried a handful of speeds from fastest to slowest.

    Are you connecting all 14-pins, if not which do you have connected?
    Are you using the correct port on the multilink FX?

    • Yes, all 14 pins on port A.

    I think the onboard USB JTAG PLS debugger is probably taking control of the JTAG. Do not connect the USB mini on the board and instead power it up via the multilink FX using the 5V jumper by port A, and "Provide power to target" checkbox within PROG or ICD software.

    • Powering from the debugger didn't solve it, but I did manage to get it working.

      You have to de-solder jumpers SB-(8,9,10,11,12,13,23,31,32) to fully disconnect the PLS debugger. It's mentioned in the datasheet, but isn't the most clear on what it means.

      Debugging works fine now, thanks for the help Takao!

    I was close, I knew the PLS debugger was the problem, but I guess they are hard wired and requires extra work to disconnect. Good to hear you are back on track.
