  • I have brought new multilink and trying to programme Cold fire ic.
it able to pogramme coldfilre v1 ics but i cant able to pogramme v2 ics,i have already connected that CABLE-CF-ADAPTER but its showing connection failed.

  • Greetings,

Cable CF Adapter is not required for MCF52258.

    1) Are you connecting all 26-pins of JTAG? If you are omitting any pins, you should detail them to me so I can tell you if that is going to work or not.

    2) What software are you using?

    3) Did you make sure to update the firmware inside the new multilink to work on ColdFire architecture? Download the firmware updater utility to do this:

    • 1) i have already used that connector before for pogramming, old programmer got faulty so i have purchased new one.In that new programmer i am able to do programme cold-fire V1(MCF52Q128clk) using port-c,but when i am going to pogramme coldfire V2(Mcf52258) by using port-D(using a 26pin connector to 10pin connector), its showing connection failed.
      2)Code warrier7.2 software.

3)i have already installed that file.

  • Greetings,

Did you make sure to install the patch for CW7.2? This is required if you are using newer hardware and newer operating systems. CW7.2 was built originally for Windows XP 32 bit and when we used to sell the ColdFire multilink (no longer sold).

    Here is the link:

  • can you please tell me how to configure the ports(port-c,d) of the multilink.

can you provide that software link.

  • Greetings,

You can find what you need in our downloads page. Just go to Support page -> Documentation & Downloads.

I think what you need is the multilink resource CD? It has all the utilities and documents with details of what pins are assigned for each port:

    The tech summary is here:

  • may i know the similar controller for MC9S12UF32PUE

  • Greetings,

The BDM connection you used to connect ColdFire V1 (6-pin connection) is the same for the MC9S12 devices. Please consult the tech summary I already sent you to learn the connections. And you can learn what other Freescale/NXP devices we support in that document as well.

  • Greetings,

    Any update on this?
