Mimic Cyclone Pro Timeout in Universal

  • Hi, With the older Cyclone Pro, if target was missing when programming, the Cyclone would time out, light the Error LED and become responsive to remote queries; but with Universal, the Cyclone does not time out. Is there way to make the Universal mimic the behavior of the Pro?

    • Hi James,

Cyclone Universal should do the same thing.

Would you please tell me your target MCU and image set up (Maybe a screenshot of the Image Creation utility) so I can try to replicate the issue? You can submit a Technical Support request to better keep track of the issue if you like.

      Thank you and Best Regards

  • Hi Huajun,

Below is the cfg file for Cyclone Image Creation Utility.
With Pro, with no target connected, the Cyclone displays error after 11 seconds. With Universal, Cyclone displays error after 1 min 50 seconds. Is it possible to shorten this time, as our test software has to wait this long before being able to control the Cyclone.

  • If we execute an image by pushing start button on Universal's front panel,
it takes ~2 mins before it times out,
but we cancel it within 7 seconds via panel's cancel button.
Can we perform the equivalent via the serial interface?

If we start executing image via serial cmd and there is no target,
it takes ~2 mins before we can get error code 5.

How can our test equipment determine when the target has finished programming? For example, without a target, during the 2 mins, we get 0 for error code. After 2 mins, error code 5. Maybe the cyclone should gives an error code indicate cyclone is busy/executing during the 2 mins.
