OSBDM/OSJTAG problem: "Open Serial Port" always failed!

  • I am using development kit TWR-K53N512.
    * Originally OSBDM/OSJTAG firmware version is 29.07, I can see three drivers in Device Manager (as expected):
    ---- Jungo -> PEMicro USB Serial Port (i1)
    ---- Jungo -> WinDriver
    ---- LibUSB-Win32 Devices -> Open Source BDM - Debug Port
    * "Terminal Utility" of "OSBDM OSJTAG Virtual Serial Toolkit" works fine!
    --- "Open Serial Port" always success!

    * After updating the OSBDM/OSJTAG firmware to version 31.21, I can see three drivers as expected:
    ---- Jungo -> WinDriver
    ---- LibUSB-Win32 Devices -> Open Source BDM - Debug Port
    ---- Ports (COM & LPT) -> OSBDM/OSJTAG - CDC Serial Port (COM16)
    * However, "Terminal Utility" of "OSBDM OSJTAG Virtual Serial Toolkit" is not working anymore!
    --- because "Open Serial Port" always fail.

    Anybody has the same issue? How to fix?
    Thanks!

    Jerry

  • So looks like the key difference is the device enumerating as osbdm/jtag not open source bdm.

    When you refernce terminal utility, what do you mean?

  • Thanks Kevin:

    Sorry for the confusion:
    * "Terminal Utility" is component of "P&E OSBDM OSJTAG Virtual Serial Toolkit"
    * Do you know software "P&E OSBDM OSJTAG Virtual Serial Toolkit"?
    This is a product of your company, right?

    What I really mean are:
    * With old firmware version 29.07
    ---- we see: Jungo -> PEMicro USB Serial Port (i1)
    ---- And I can open the serial port "USBCOM" in "Terminal Utility"!
    * But with new firmware version 31.21
    ---- we see: Ports (COM & LPT) -> OSBDM/OSJTAG - CDC Serial Port (COM16)
    ---- I can NOT select/open port: COM16
    Because we can only select "COM1,...COM8, USBCOM" in "Terminal Utility"!
    This is my problem.

    So you understand my problem now?
    Thanks!

  • Yes I have the same issue with Jerry. I cannot select the appropriate COM port because I see my CDC serial port becoming COM17.
