USB Multilink Universal Rev.B not able to communitcate with target.

Staff: Mikhail A.

  • Hello,

I am using a USB multilink Universal Rev. B flash programmer and am attempting to flash a MPC555 series microcontroller. I have installed all of the most current drivers and firmware for the programmer. It is recognized by the connection manager and the yellow LED is lit to signal that the target power is recognized. All this being said, I still receive the error, "Can't communicate with the target processor!" when trying to connect in the PROGPPCZ program.

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated!

  • Dear Cody,

Are you using a USB Multilink Universal (green case) or a USB Multilink Universal FX (black case)? The non-FX version has no support for PPCBDM. The FX version however, should provide support.

  • Mikhail,

We have the blue Power Architecture BDM Multilink. This issue was resolved by removing the provided ribbon cable and using one that we had in it's place.
