PROGPPCZ on windows 7

  • In our plant we have some programming systems running in production since 2010. Those system, work based on a BDML card and a CABLE_PPC and PROGPPCZ software. Those programming stations are working on Windows XP systems. Because of plant requirements we have been asked to change all of our OS to windows 7. I understand that BDML and CABLE_PPC products are discontinued.

I would like to know if there is a chance for us to run with what we got in Windows 7 OS.

  • Greetings,

For hardware, the answer is no. We stopped parallel port support within our drivers starting Windows 7 because most modern computers no longer have this port. Even if you get a virtual machine or hardware adapter solutions to get around it, it will not work. Vista 32-bit was the last OS we supported parallel ports.

We highly suggest purchasing our USB-ML-Universal FX hardware. Note, our USB ML-Universal (non-FX version) does not support the PowerPC BDM architecture:

For software, it depends on when it was purchased. We included support for Windows 7 and 64-bit operating systems after year 2009. So if your software was built after year 2009 (just look at the last modified date) then it will work just fine in the latest operating systems. Otherwise, you will need to purchase a new license.
