Falshing tool for "SPC5604BVLQ6"

  • I have a vendor who provides me a microcontroller board with "SPC5604BVLQ6" MCU
and a hex file for the board. I need to find the proper flashing tool to
program the hex file into the chip. Can you tell me the exact part no. for the
programmer and accessories I would need to do the job. Thanks.

  • Greetings,

You need a hardware and the right software.

My assumption is you do not need a production programmer and you just have one board. So I will give you the cheapest option you can get. The USB Multilink Universal is the hardware for you:

The software you need is PROG for PPCNEXUS. Unless you need a way to debug then you need ICD PPCNEXUS. Note, we have a 64K limited trial software you can use if the Hex file you were given is small. If not, then you must purchase a full version. (No I cannot give you a full-version for a limited time):

64K limited software of PKG PPCNEXUS, which includes PROG and ICD:

ICD PPCNEXUS details and purchase, which includes PROG:

PROG PPCNEXUS deatils and purchase, DOES NOT include ICD:

  • Hi Takao,

Thanks for the reply. The first option you suggested does not seem to show support for "SPC5604BVLQ6" MCU. Also I cannot have the 64K limit. The case I have is I have the hardware and a hex file, I don't need debugging, but just program the hex file to the MCU. So if I would purchase the Cyclone Universal(link shown below), would I need any software to do the programming?

  • The Cyclone Universal does show support for the MCU by showing "STMicro SPC56".

  • Greetings,

I would not suggest a hardware and software that does not support your device. The PPCNEXUS architecture includes MPC and SPC55xx/56xx/57xx/58xx devices.

You can get the USB Multilink Universal with the PROG PPCNEXUS software.

You could purchase the cyclone and you would not need extra hardware or software.

It is up to you which hardware and software combination works best for you.

  • Hi,

I just find out that we actually have a USB Multilink Universal. Is there only one type of it? If there is only 1 type, then I can just download PROG for PPCNEXUS, then I should be able to program the MCU "SPC5604BVLQ6". Can you please confirm it? Thanks.

  • Greetings,

Not sure what you mean type. There are different revisions of multilink universal. There are also FX versions of the multilink universal. But whatever version you have, it will support your chip and it will work with PROG PPCNEXUS.

  • We will stay with the Cyclone Pro. Thanks for you help.

  • Greetings,

Cyclone Pro will NOT support PPCNEXUS. The Cyclone Universal will. Please make sure you get the right one.

  • Actually we ordered Cyclone Universal. But doesn't Cyclone Universal comes with software or PPCNEXUS?

  • Greetings,

Yes the PROG software for PPCNEXUS is included for Cyclone Universal, but it will only work with Cyclones. If you purchased PROG for PPCNEXUS software, it could work for cyclones and multilinks.
