  • We have procured U- MultiLink Universal FX and along with we have received a CD with installation details.

We installed it and we could see only one GUI which is “Firmware Update Utility”.

We are using TRK-MPC5606B board ,GHS Compiler integrated into Eclipse IDE.

We now have the .elf generated upon compiling of source files but we need to flash it onto the board and test it.

Could you please let me know the usage of U- MultiLink Universal FX for flashing and debugging ASAP.

Also could you also let us know the procedure to integrate the MultiLink Universal FX debugger into the Eclipse IDE (Indigo)

  • Greetings,

You need to purchase a flash programming software or an IDE that support flash programming. For an IDE, you can go down Freescale's Codewarrior route, but that would be very expensive and double the eclipse IDE you need in your setup. But it keeps it within the Eclipse environment.

Otherwise, what you can get is P&E's PROG and ICD PPCNEXUS software. If you do not need any debugging, then just get the PROG PPCNEXUS.

We may have a GDB server plugin that works with Eclipse IDE for your device in the future. Right now it will only support the MPC57xx devices, but there are plans for supporting MPC56xx devices possibly by early next year.
