PROGHCS08 running on Widows 7 causes unrelated MSDOS program to lock up

  • We are updating our computers from Windows XP to Windows 7 and ran into a strange problem on a workstation we use for production. This workstation needs to run PROGHCS08 for programming Freescale microcontrollers as well as run three in-house MSDOS programs written years ago and are still in use. All programs have been running for the last several years without problems on a computer running Windows XP. Under Windows 7 the PROGHCS08 program without any apparent problems. The MSDOS programs also run without problems until the PROGHCS08 program is run. After starting the PROGHCS08 program, even if programming is not performed, all three MSDOS programs hang up when you try to run the programs. Closing PROGHCS08 has no effect only a reboot of the computer will restore functionality to the MSDOS programs.

    PROGHC08 version:
PROGHC80 is being used with a USB BDM Multilink Rev C
USB Drivers were updated to version 11.

As a test we also tried installing Codewarrior 6.3 and Codewarrior has the same results. This is also a concern as the development computer is still running XP but may be updated to Windows 7 or 8.

  • Kenneth,

The main issue here is that many of these programs are not officially supported for Windows 7. For the PROG software, you will have to purchase a license to get access to the newer version that offers support for Windows 7.

For Codewarrior, please create a Support Request so that we can send you a patch that will allow it to work with our products in Windows 7.

  • Greetings,

Has this issue been resolved? Do you have any other questions or concerns?
