  • Hi, I am trying to connect Eclipse Juno to a TRW-USB-S12G128 evaluation board to debug my application.
I did not want to use codeWarrior so I have the SW is in Eclipse Juno.

I would like to be able to connect to the board. I have the CDC driver installed...but debug is not running.

I will really appreciate if somebody can help.

    Thanks

  • Greetings,

May I ask why you are trying to use Eclipse Juno to debug our board? Are you trying to find a free solution? If a free solution existed, then Codewarrior would have never existed.

If you are looking for a cheaper solution, P&E has debugging software that you could use to debug your hardware. The ICD12Z software can connect to your board via OSBDM using the mini USB cable. Note, that this will not program your board. Only debugging.

If you need flash programming you can look into PROG12Z.

We also have a solution for an IDE packaged with the debugger and programming if you need a compiler if you are still in the development stage.

Please let me know what you are actually looking for so I can point you in the right direction.

  • Thanks for the answer,
it is not a matter of cheap or expensive. I do not want to have 10 different IDE , one for each project or microcontroller I use. That is way I am trying to use Eclipse CDT Juno as open IDE and then debug thru the features available on Eclipse.

Eclipse CDT allows you to connect to target and debug thru GDB...for instance.

I need to understand if there are emulator I can use and for S12g which are compatible.

    Thanks

  • Greetings,

We currently do not have a solution or any plan for GDB for the HC(S)12(X) architecture. We only have it for the Kinetis chips.

One solution you could do is our unit library DLL:
    http://www.pemicro.com/products/product_viewDetails.cfm?product_id=51

This gives you API to talk to your P&E hardware interface like OSBDM. This is essentially the "driver" you need. However, it does not natively support flash programming. Only RAM programming. So you would have to figure out on your own how to program the flash using the API provided. In summary, you could use the unit library to create your own programming and debugging interface with your Eclipse. But it would be up to you how to implement it. Look at the sample API for a better idea of what is available:
