Problem with cprog12z on Windows 7

  • Hi,

I’m using cprog12z.exe (v1.65) and USB-ML-12 (rev C) to program an MC9S12C128 (HCS12 cpu) microcontroller. Everything works fine on a computer running Windows XP but when I go to a Windows 7 64bit machine cprog12z runs forever.

Cprog12z is called with the following command:
    “cprog12z.exe flash.cfg hideapp Interface=USBMULTILINK Port=USB1”

    Flash.cfg has:
    CM 9S12B128_128k.12P
    SS <filename>
Where <filename> is the path to my firmware

Note: I had similar problems with Unsecure_12_CMD.exe (which is called before cprog12z). Downloading “unit_12z.dll” from NXP seems to fix unsecure but not cprog12z.

    Any idea?

  • Kostas,

You are using a very old version which does not support 64 bit.

You will need to update your software

    • Hi Kevin,

Does PEmicro have any special offer for updating the old version of cprog12z or do I have to purchase a brand new software package?

  • Hi Kevin,

    Thanks for your answer.
Can you please tell me what options do I have to update my software?
