Greetings,

Just buying the multilink is not going to be enough. If you want to read and write then you need software. 

Let me know which chip you are trying to program and we can help you find the right software for you.

That would be a ST SPC5 device family. 
You will need PROGPPCNEXUS software:
http://www.pemicro.com/products/product_viewDetails.cfm?product_id=15320089

You will find a 64KB trial version of the software on that page if you wish to give it a try and attempt to read the device. 64KB trial means it can only program up to 64KB of data into memory, but no limitation on reading. If you run into "Error out of memory" issue that means you are programming more than 64KB and require the full license.
