Error: Enabling module timed out. Using OPENSDA McuXpresso v11.1.1
Gregg S. Mar 20, 2020 at 04:32 PM (16:32 hours)
Staff: Zahar R.

  • Just recently installed latest version McuXpresso v11.1.1.
Trying to program demo apps on FRDM-KE027 board such as "blinky" and "Hello world", although it doesn't matter what the app is, even a new "blank" project. The result is the same.

Console info using McuXpresso v11.1.1 indicates:

The PE drivers appear to be different. Is this causing the problem?

  • Hi Gregg,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

It does look like with the latest plugin does have a problem with your specific board. I did a smoke test on a different board and do not see this issue, so it will take us a day or two to track down FRDM-KE02Z to give it a try.

Can you please go to mass storage device and post the contents of SDA_INF.HTM tile into this forum thread?

Can you please go to debug configuration and enter -outputdebugfile into Debugger Tab -> Server Parameters section.

The next time you run a debug session, a .out log file will be generated in {MCUXpresso Installation Folder}\ide\plugins\com.pemicro.debug.gdbjtag.pne_4.5.5.xxxxx\win32 folder

Can you please email it to zahar at pemicro dot com.

    Best Regards,
    Zahar
    PEmicro.

  • Hello.

Is there any resolution for this? I still have the same problem.
    Gregg

    • Hello Gregg,

I have faced the same problem since I installed MCUXpressoIDE_11.1.1_3241 and wanted to debug my FRDM-KE02Z40M development board.

I tried to find a solution but it was absolutely impossible. It seems to be an update matter.

To give solution to it, I installed a previous MCUXpressoIDE version without any updates - MCUXpressoIDE_11.1.0_3209 to be exactly.

      I hope it helps you.

      Best regards,

      Mauricio.

  • Hi Mauricio,

Thanks for reply. At least I now know that it's not just me.

I just now noticed that I typo'd my board FRDM-KE027. It should be FRDM-KE02Z.

Anyhow, luckily I did not uninstall MCUXpressoIDE_11.0.1_2563, so I can fall back on that.

    Gregg

  • Hi Gregg,

What version of PEMicro plugin doe you have installed under 11.1.1 IDE? You can find it out by going to Help -> Install New Software -> Already installed dialog.

What version of PEmicro plugin do you have installed under MCUXpresso 11.0.1? Does your Freedom board work under 11.0.1 version of IDE?

    Best Regards,
    Zahar
    PEmicro.

  • Zahar,

Here is the info you requested.

    MCUXpresso IDEv11.0.1[Build 2563][2019-09-01]
GNU ARM PEMicro Interface Debugging Support 4.3.3.201909262034

    MCUXpresso IDEv11.1.1[Build 3241][2020-03-02]
GNU ARM PEMicro Interface Debugging Support 4.6.9.202006192045

Yes, the FRDM-KE02Z board will program under IDE v11.0.1, but errors out with IDE v11.1.1

Note: I also have a FRDM-KL25Z board that has no problems with IDE v11.1.1

    Gregg

  • Hi Gregg,

Are you using one of projects imported from SDK? If you are, can you please let me know which one...

Is this project leveraging Freertos support by any chance? I will try to track down KE02 Freedom tomorrow and do additional testing.

In the meantime, can you please go to debug configuration under both IDEs and under Debugger tab enter -outputdebugfile into Server Parameters text box.

When you run your debug session, the .out file will be generated in your MCUXpresso folder\ide\plugins\com.pemicro.debug.gdbjtag.pne_xxxxx\win32

Can you please email me both .out files for a good and a bad debug session to zahar "at" pemicro "dot" com.

    Thank you,
    Zahar
    PEMicro.

  • Zahar,

The SDK projects are “led_blinky”. It is not using FreeRTOS.

    -outputdebugfile(s) emailed.

  • Zahar,

I just created then fixed essentially the same problem on my FRDM-KE02Z, only it's using KDS Kinetis Design Studio instead.

Yesterday I created a simple A2D measurement application. I was debugging and trying to figure out why I could not see "live variables". After doing some online researching today, I discovered that P&E had "GNU ARM PEMicro Interface Debugging Support". Thinking that this was what I needed, I followed instructions to "Install Software". The new software version is 4.6.9.202006192045. Upon installation I was informed that only an update would occur because the older
4.3.5.201910081615 version was already installed.(Turns out, I was not seeing live variable because I did not have the proper P&E view window opened.)
After the install and restarting, I got the same error that I was see using MCUXpresso 11.1.1. Luckily I managed to revert back to the older version and everything is working again.

Perhaps this is related to the MCUXpresso 11.1.1. issue.
    Hope this helps.
    Gregg
