Flash Programming Algorithms for MPC5748G

  • Hi,

For the pcp files used to program the MPC5748G (nxp_mpc5748g_1x32x1520k_cflash.pcp), may I know what the SREC commands are doing? (1) Is it copying data to RAM at address 0x40000000? (2) Is the data being copied powerpc-vle instructions?

We are trying to understand how the pcp algorithm copies the ELF binary into FLASH.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Greetings,

What is your end goal? Is the algorithm modifying something in RAM that you believe is interrupting your RAM code?

  • Hi Takao,

    Thanks for your reply.

We are trying to understand how the algorithm copies the ELF file into flash. Because when we scan the flash for the ELF header we can't find it.

We are guessing the algorithm is stripping away ELF artefacts and copying just the data and text sections to respective flash locations. But we wld like to ascertain this.

  • Greetings,

There is no reason to have the ELF header or other debug information in the flash. The Flash should only hold your code for execution.

Our tools will only program the binary contents of your ELF file.
