MULTILINK UNIVERSAL NOT WORKING WITH PROGHCS08 v1.70.00.00

Staff: Takao Y.

  • I have just bought a Multilink Universal programmer (U-MULTILINK) to program Freescale HCS08DZ32 microcontrollers; I tested it with CodeWarrior v10.6 and it works correctly, but I didn't manage to program my devices with PROGHCS08 software.
If I use the old programmer USB-BDM MULTILINK, the system works, my PROGHCS08 version is 1.70.00.00 and I think that this version isn't supporting the Multilink Universal.

Thank you for your attention to this matter

  • Greetings,

Just to rule out drivers and firmware, please install the following 2 items in order and let me know if you still have issues:

    Firmware updater:

    Drivers 12:

    • Thank you for the answer,

I installed the two files but it still doesn't work.
I forgot to mention that my device is the Rev C of the Multilink Universal.

The PROGHCS08 LOG file shows this message:

      "P&E Interface detected - Flash Version 9.40
      ERROR 45 during script!"

  • Greetings,

Oh, are you using CPROG? Could you please first start with using PROGHCS08 which uses the GUI and you can click and select commands. When you can get that working, then switch over to using CPROG and we can debug the problem knowing that at least the hardware and setup is good.

    • Yes I use CPROG because I program my boards with a batch file. I tried to connect to my board with the PROGHCS08 GUI and with the new programmer I receive this message: "Can't commnunicate with the target processor ! Please check your connections between the cable and the target and make sure the target has power"
      Connection port and interface type:

Interface Type: USB HCS08/HCS12/CFV1 Multilink - USB Port
      Port: USB1: USB-ML-12 (FS) Rev C (PEMB828BB)

I managed to do the connection with the old programmer
      Connection port and interface type:

Interface Type: USB HCS08/HCS12/CFV1 Multilink - USB Port
      Port USB1: USB-ML-12 Rev C (PE5516373)

  • Greetings,

Could you create a support ticket at Support Page -> Support requests and mention my name. We will run a few experiments to figure out the problem.
