BYPASS security for erasing HC08 devices

  • Is there a way to modify the programming the script for CPROG08SZ to bypass the security, permitting to erase a non empty device before reprogramming? This can be useful for maintenance since the devices are already programmed but can contain different software versions.

    My actual script:
    ; Configuration for 68HC908AZ60A device
    :TARGETCLASS 7 ; P&E MON08 Multilink Interface (USB)
    :PORT USB1
    :POWERDOWNDELAY 500
    :POWERUPDELAY 500
    :DEVICETYPE AZ
    :DEVICECLOCK 1
    :CLOCKDIVIDER 0
    :DEVICEPOWER 0
    CM 908_az60a_highspeed.08p
:SECURITYCODE FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF ; Blank
    :FORCEPASS
    EM
    SS file.s19

  • Greetings,

Did you read the cprog08.pdf file? There is a chapter specifically for passing security. Please read it as it is too long to post on the forums thread.

Basically you need to move your SECURITYCODE and FORCEPASS lines at the head of the CFG file. Not just before the EM line. We process all header commands first.

  • Hello,

Yes, I've red the cprog08.doc file and I've tested to put the SECURITYCODE and FORCEPASS lines at different locations but it doesn't work.
    My actual script:
    ; Configuration for a 68HC908AZ60A device
:SECURITYCODE FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF ; Blank
    :FORCEPASS
    :TARGETCLASS 7 ; P&E MON08 Multilink Interface (USB)
    :PORT USB1
    :POWERDOWNDELAY 500
    :POWERUPDELAY 500
    :DEVICETYPE AZ
    :DEVICECLOCK 1
    :CLOCKDIVIDER 0
    :DEVICEPOWER 0
    CM 908_az60a_highspeed.08p
    EM
    SS ..\..\NSC\Soft\Soft\UGN45631AH(CM)_V1.02.s19
    PM

    I get the following message:
68HC08 Device Detected. ROM is secure.Specify or IGNORE Security.
    Starting powerdown reset sequence...
    Trying Security $FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF Access Denied
(68HC08 Device respond properly, but ROM is secure.)
    ERROR 48 during script!

  • Hello,

What is wrong in the previous script?
    Has somebody an idea?

    Regard.

  • Greetings,

Could you remove the SECURITYCODE and FORCEPASS lines in your CFG file? This will force ignore the security. We will update the documentation to make this clear. Sorry for the delay in response.

  • Hello,

By removing the SECURITYCODE and FORCEPASS lines, it's working like a charm.
    Thank you very much.

    Regards.
