Question
How do I update the Firmware on my Cyclone?

Answer
It is always a good idea to upgrade the firmware of your Cyclone if there is a newer version available. Newer versions of the firmware generally reduce programming times as compared to a previous version, as well as resolve any issues that might have been pending since the previous firmware release. Firmware releases are posted on the corresponding product pages as they become available.

The following example uses filenames consistent with the Cyclone MAX. Please adjust as necessary for your Cyclone type:

Upgrading the firmware is an automatic process, so long as the CycloneMaxEns.* file (e.g., CycloneMaxEns.717) is in the same directory as the programmer or debugger application. This directory defaults to "C:pemicrocyclone_max", unless it was changed at installation time, so as long as the CycloneMaxEns.* file is copied into this directory, the next time any of the Cyclone Max utilities are launched and the connection port is opened, they will automatically upgrade the firmware of the device.
