Question
How much current does the BDM multilink draw from the target?

Answer
The BDM multilink typically derives it's power directly from the target. The target must supply voltage on pin 6 between 1.8v and 5.25v. The BDM Multilink will draw approximately 100mA when powered from 5v, and 150mA when powered from 3.3v.

If power consumption is a consideration, PEmicro has a power supply which may be used with the BDM Multilink to reduce the current draw from the target to under 10mA. The part number for this supply is BDMMULTI-PS.

If power consumption is a consideration, PEmicro has several other interfaces which draw less current from the target. Both the USB-ML-12 and the Cyclone Pro typically draw less than 10mA from the target.
