FAQ ID # 216
Why does my debugger (ICDCFZ or ICD32Z) lose communication with the processor when I write to the system registers to initialize memory?
ICD may lose communication if it reads an invalid memory address which can occur when it refreshes the memory windows. You should use the QUIET command to turn off refreshing of the memory window before you write to any system registers.
